HelperMate — Terms of Service

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of HelperMate, a household management application operated by TEMFARMING (UEN: 53508432C), a sole proprietorship registered in Singapore ("we", "our", "us", or "HelperMate"). By downloading, installing, or using the HelperMate application (the "App" or "Portal"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

TEMFARMING reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification and/or email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date of any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

HelperMate is a household management tool designed to facilitate coordination between employers ("Employer") and their Foreign Domestic Workers ("Helper" or "FDW") in Singapore. The App provides the following features:

  • Task management, weekly routines, and schedule coordination
  • Salary record-keeping and payment history (record tool only, not a payment processor)
  • MOM compliance tracking: Work Permit, 6-Month Medical Examination, and Passport expiry reminders with rest day recording
  • Expense recording with optional OCR receipt scanning (on-device processing)
  • Multilingual interface supporting multiple languages
  • SOS emergency contact shortcut
  • Rights and guidelines reference for Helpers

3. User Accounts

3.1 Registration

To access the full features of the App, you must create an account by providing your email address, a display name, and a password. Alternative sign-in methods (Google Sign-In, Phone Authentication) may also be available. You confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.

3.2 Account Responsibilities

By registering, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and current registration information
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials
  • Notify us immediately at support@helpermate.app of any unauthorised access to your account
  • Not share your account credentials with any person outside your household
  • Not create multiple accounts for the same individual

You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. TEMFARMING is not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorised use of your account.

3.3 Account Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including Firebase Authentication, encrypted password storage, secure token-based sessions, and Firestore Security Rules that restrict data access to authorised household members only.

4. Employer and Helper Roles

The App is designed for use by two distinct roles within a household:

  • Employer: The household administrator who manages tasks, salary records, expenses, and MOM compliance tracking.
  • Helper: The Foreign Domestic Worker linked to the household who can view tasks, schedules, and access rights information.

Role assignment is determined at account creation and linked through the household invite code system. TEMFARMING does not verify the identity or employment status of users.

5. Household System

5.1 Creating a Household

An Employer may create a household within the App and generate an invite code to link with their Helper. The Employer who creates the household is the household administrator.

5.2 Joining a Household

A Helper joins a household by entering the invite code provided by their Employer. By joining, the Helper agrees to share certain data within the household as described in our Privacy Policy. A Helper may only be linked to one active household at a time.

5.3 Household Data and Dissolution

All household data (tasks, records) is shared between the linked Employer and Helper. Upon household dissolution (through account deletion, manual removal of all members, or mutual departure):

  • Shared household data will be archived for 30 days before permanent deletion
  • All household members will be notified 7 days in advance of permanent deletion
  • Each user's personal account data (profile, settings) is not affected by household dissolution

6. Feature-Specific Disclaimers

The following disclaimers apply to specific features of the App. By using these features, you acknowledge and accept the limitations described below.

6.1 MOM Compliance Reminders

The MOM Compliance feature provides tracking and reminders for Work Permit renewals, 6-Month Medical Examinations, and Passport expiry dates. This feature also supports rest day recording.

Important: - HelperMate is NOT an official MOM service and has no affiliation with the Ministry of Manpower - Compliance reminders are based on dates entered by users and do not constitute legal advice - You remain solely responsible for meeting all MOM regulatory requirements and deadlines - HelperMate does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any compliance information - Failure to comply with MOM regulations may result in penalties; HelperMate bears no responsibility for such consequences

6.2 Wallet and Salary Record-Keeping

The Wallet feature is a record-keeping tool only. HelperMate does not process, transfer, or hold any funds. All salary and expense entries are informational records entered manually by users.

Important: - HelperMate is NOT a payment processor, digital wallet, or financial institution - Salary records do not constitute proof of payment for legal or regulatory purposes - Users are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all financial entries - HelperMate does not provide financial advice, tax calculations, or accounting services

6.3 Multilingual Support

HelperMate provides multilingual interface support for users who speak different languages. Translations are provided to facilitate understanding between Employers and Helpers.

Important: - Translations are provided for convenience only and may not be perfectly accurate - For important or legally binding communications, users should seek professional translation services - HelperMate is not responsible for misunderstandings arising from translation inaccuracies

6.4 SOS / Emergency Contact Feature

The SOS feature provides quick access to user-configured emergency contacts and relevant Singapore emergency numbers. It is a shortcut tool, not an emergency response service.

Important: - HelperMate does NOT directly connect to police, ambulance, or other emergency services - The SOS feature requires a functioning mobile network and device connectivity - Users are responsible for keeping their emergency contact information current - HelperMate is not liable for any failure or delay in reaching emergency contacts

6.5 OCR Receipt Scanning

The OCR (Optical Character Recognition) receipt scanning feature is powered by on-device ML processing (Google ML Kit). HelperMate does not guarantee the accuracy of scanned data. All OCR results must be verified by the user before saving. Receipt images processed by OCR are not uploaded to HelperMate servers.

6.6 Third-Party Data (Helper's Personal Information)

If you enter personal information about your Helper (including passport numbers, Work Permit details, or medical records), you represent that:

  • You have obtained your Helper's informed consent to store this information in the App
  • You will use this information solely for household management and MOM compliance purposes
  • You are responsible for ensuring your Helper's data is handled in accordance with the PDPA

7. Content and Intellectual Property

7.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload, including task descriptions, notes, and images ("Your Content"). By uploading, you grant TEMFARMING a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Services.

7.2 Our Intellectual Property

All content, features, design, source code, graphics, logos, and software of HelperMate are the property of TEMFARMING and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not:

  • Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use HelperMate trademarks, logos, or branding without prior written consent from TEMFARMING

8. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the App in any manner that:

  • Is unlawful, fraudulent, or in breach of any Singapore law or regulation
  • Uploads false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Attempts to access data belonging to other households or users
  • Transmits spam, malicious code, viruses, or harmful programs
  • Harasses, abuses, threatens, or discriminates against any person
  • Interferes with the security or integrity of the App
  • Collects or harvests personal data of other users without consent
  • Uses the App for any commercial purpose other than its intended household management function
  • Sends unsolicited commercial communications, junk messages, or spam to other users of the App
  • Attempts to gain unauthorised access to any systems, servers, or networks connected to or associated with the App, in breach of the Computer Misuse Act (Cap. 50A) of Singapore

TEMFARMING reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without prior notice, for any violation of this Acceptable Use Policy.

9. Pricing and Future Subscription Plans

9.1 Current Pricing

HelperMate is currently available free of charge to all users during the introductory period. All features described in Section 2 are accessible at no cost.

9.2 Future Changes

TEMFARMING may introduce paid subscription plans or premium features in the future. In the event of any pricing changes:

  • We will notify all users at least 30 days in advance via email and in-app notification
  • Helper users will always have access to core features at no charge
  • Existing features available during the free introductory period will not be removed without advance notice
  • Users who do not wish to subscribe to paid plans may continue using the free tier features

9.3 Payment Processing

If and when paid subscriptions are introduced, all payments will be processed exclusively through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) In-App Purchase (IAP) systems. TEMFARMING does not and will not directly process, store, or access your payment card details.

10. Account Suspension and Termination

10.1 Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time through: App > Menu > Profile > Account Settings > Delete Account. Refer to our Privacy Policy for the data deletion timeline (30 days for complete purge).

10.2 Termination by TEMFARMING

TEMFARMING may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms of Service or the Acceptable Use Policy
  • Required to do so by Singapore law or valid legal process
  • Your account has been inactive for 12 consecutive months
  • Continued access poses a security risk to other users

We will provide reasonable advance notice before termination unless immediate action is required for security reasons.

10.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your access to the App immediately ceases. Provisions regarding intellectual property, confidentiality, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TEMFARMING DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of Singapore, TEMFARMING, its directors, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the App
  • Errors in salary records, reminder schedules, or compliance tracking
  • Unauthorised access to or alteration of your data
  • Conduct or content of other household members
  • Third-party services integrated with the App (Firebase, Google ML Kit)
  • Loss of data, profits, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Failure or delay of the SOS feature to connect in an emergency
  • Translation inaccuracies in multilingual features

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TEMFARMING, its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any third-party claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the App or violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable Singapore law or regulation
  • Your infringement of any intellectual property or other rights of any third party
  • Any content you upload, post, or transmit through the App
  • Your violation of any MOM regulation or employment law in connection with your Helper's employment

14. Privacy and Data Protection

Our collection, use, and disclosure of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms. By using the App, you consent to data practices as set out in the Privacy Policy (available at helpermate.app/privacy).

In particular, by using the App, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • TEMFARMING may use aggregated and anonymised data derived from your use of the App for internal analytics, product improvement, and business reporting purposes, including reports shared with investors or potential business partners. Such data cannot identify you as an individual and does not constitute personal data under the PDPA ("Analytics Purpose")
  • Where you have provided your consent, TEMFARMING may send you marketing communications about HelperMate features, updates, and offers via push notification or email ("Marketing Purpose"). You may withdraw this consent at any time through Account Settings or by contacting support@helpermate.app. Withdrawal of consent for marketing communications does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out prior to withdrawal, nor does it affect your continued use of the App
  • TEMFARMING will NEVER sell, rent, or trade your identifiable personal data to third parties, and will NEVER share identifiable personal data with external advertisers or third-party marketing platforms

15. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with third-party services including:

  • Firebase (Google LLC) — Authentication, database, storage, push notifications, crash reporting, and analytics
  • Google ML Kit — On-device OCR for receipt scanning (all processing occurs on your device; no data is transmitted to external servers)

TEMFARMING does not control these services and is not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or availability. Your use of such third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to conflicts of laws principles.

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be referred to and finally resolved by the Courts of Singapore. You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore Courts.

The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Chapter 53B) of Singapore shall not apply to these Terms.

17. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will:

  • Notify you via push notification and/or email at least 14 days before changes take effect
  • Display an in-app notice requiring acknowledgement upon next login

Continued use of the App after the effective date of any modification constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

18. General Provisions

  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Subscription Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TEMFARMING.
  • Assignment: TEMFARMING may assign these Terms to any affiliate or successor. You may not assign your rights without prior written consent.
  • Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver.
  • Force Majeure: TEMFARMING is not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
  • No Agency: Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, partnership, or employment relationship between you and TEMFARMING.
